Is there a cooperation between ‘Vechain’ and the BMW Group?
It was announced in various media at the end of February in 2018 that ‘Vechain Thor’ would be collaborating with the ‘BMW group’, Vechain Thor also displays this news on their website and in various articles:
https://vechain101.com/whats-vendor-lock-in-and-how-does-it-affect-a-blockchain-partnership/
and
As you can see on : https://www.vechain.com/#solutions
Does BMW officially confirm this collaboration?
My answer is, unfortunately: NO
If you go to the official site of the BMW group or to the site for press news there is, unfortunately, nothing to be found:
https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/
So does the research stop here?
No, of course not.
I do find an article on both sites that is worth dissecting anyway
Site 1
https://www.bmw.com/en/innovation/blockchain-automotive.html
Which was published on November 11, 2019,
we must take note of 2 important things
Aldo BMW does not officially give an announcement in their communications ….
if we go to the official Twitter of Dr; Andre Luckow we see he is following ‘Vechain’ and They follow him back. and not another blockchain is on his list with this potential But there is no follow on Twitter from BMW, which gives a strong indication that ‘Vechain’ has currently a partnership with the ‘BMW Group’.
Site 2
https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/global/article/detail/T0307164EN?language=en
There I have to highlight the following
But if we go to the MOBI site I can find any relationship with ‘Vechain’ even on their Twitter they are not following ‘Vechain’ and ‘Vechain’ is not following them. The only thing wat was noticeable was that MOBI just like of Dr; Andre Luckow is following Ripple
I did not find something official ….till I found this document on their site:
https://dlt.mobi/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/MOBI-press-release-FINAL-FULL-RELEASE-CHRIS-USE-THIS-ONE-14.1.pdf (I do not know If they realize this document is public reachable)
Final conclusion
- After some digging and searching, I can conclude that there really is cooperation but not directly in my opinion. Especially if you look at the official documents that I provide here in case the links don’t work anymore.
- It would be positive though if the ‘BMW group’ and ‘MOBI’ on their various social channels and websites would come out more openly that they actually use the technology of ‘Vechain Thor’. on the blockchain.
So…at the end we have to say that ‘Vechain Thor’ is a part of the MOBI alliance.
- but wat is MOBI (Home – MOBI (dlt.mobi)) MOBI is a nonprofit alliance of many of the world’s largest vehicle manufacturers, along with startups, governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), transit agencies, insurers, e-mobility leaders, blockchain protocols, technology companies, and more working to create simple blockchain-based standards to identify vehicles, people, businesses, and trusted trips. MOBI’s goal is to make transportation more efficient, affordable, greener, safer, and less congested.
- in this alliance are a lot of big world players. If we look only at the car manufacturers, we must even note that there are even several brands in this alliance! ‘BMW group’, ‘Renault group’, Ford, ‘Toyota industries group’ also recently entered this alliance
Here are some official documents I found:
